NLY Type Clamp Adjustable

Product Overview
The NLY Type Clamp Adjustable is a specialized strain clamp designed for dead-end gripping of insulated conductors on low and medium voltage overhead lines. Widely recognized in the industry under alternative names including insulated strain clamp, adjustable dead-end grip, this product serves as a critical component in 1 kV to 10 kV insulated overhead lines systems. Steel, hot-dip galvanized. Anti-theft devices available for separate purchase.
Advantages
- “Adjustable clamp body” — accommodates a range of conductor diameters within each model, reducing inventory requirements
- “Insulation-friendly grip” — clamps through the insulation layer without stripping, preserving conductor dielectric properties
- “High slip strength” — tested slip load exceeds conductor rated breaking strength for safe tensioning
- “Weatherproof construction” — aluminum alloy body and UV-resistant components ensure long outdoor service
- “Simple installation” — no special tools or compression equipment required, bolt-type tightening in the field

Material & Manufacturing
- Material: aluminum alloy body with reinforced composite components
- Secondary components: rubber or composite insulation protection
- Surface treatment: Hot-dip galvanizing in accordance with ISO 1461 / ASTM A153 / IEC 61589, minimum zinc coating thickness 65 μm
- Manufacturing process: Precision forging, casting, or CNC machining of critical dimensions, followed by full galvanizing immersion. Dimensional accuracy controlled within ±0.5 mm tolerance on mounting interfaces
- Quality assurance: Every batch undergoes dimensional inspection, galvanizing thickness testing (magnetic or gravimetric method per ISO 2178), and visual surface examination. Mill test certificates (MTC) available upon request
Application Scope
- Dead-end gripping of insulated conductors on low and medium voltage overhead lines
- LV and MV insulated overhead line dead-end terminals
- Service drop and pole-to-house conductor connections

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between NLY adjustable and fixed types? A: Adjustable NLY models use a bolt mechanism to fit multiple conductor sizes. Fixed-type clamps are sized for specific conductor diameters.
Q: Can NLY clamps be used on bare ACSR? A: NLY is designed for insulated conductors. For bare ACSR, NLL bolt-type or preformed helical grips are recommended.
Q: What is the rated slip strength? A: NLY clamps are tested to achieve slip loads exceeding 95% of conductor breaking strength. Refer to model datasheets for exact values.
