NXJL Wedge Type Insulated Strain Clamp

NXJL Wedge-Type Insulated Strain Clamp

Product Overview

The NXJL Wedge Type Insulated Strain Clamp is a specialized strain clamp designed for wedge-type dead-end clamping of insulated conductors on MV distribution lines. Widely recognized in the industry under alternative names including wedge-type insulated strain clamp, insulated dead-end clamp, this product serves as a critical component in 10 kV insulated overhead lines systems. NXJL wedge-type insulated strain clamp is suitable for use at the terminal or both ends of tension sections of 10kV and below overhead insulated aluminum conductors (JKLYJ), together with insulator strings, to fix and tension the overhead insulated wires. The product is equipped with different plastic wedge cores according to conductor specifications.

Advantages

  • “Self-adjusting wedge grip” — wedge core adapts to conductor diameter variations, ensuring consistent clamping force
  • “No insulation stripping” — preserves conductor insulation integrity during installation
  • “UV-resistant body” — cast aluminum with corrosion-resistant finish for long-term outdoor exposure
  • “Lightweight design” — aluminum alloy body reduces pole loading compared to steel alternatives
  • “Standardized fit” — compatible with common MV insulator and fitting interfaces

Note: Manufactured from high-strength cast aluminum alloy, no magnetic hysteresis loss. Wedge core uses high-strength reinforced nylon material, with good insulation performance. Cable does not need stripping of insulation layer for installation. Wedge-type structure, easy and reliable installation. ◆ Clamp and fitting use ring connection. Dimensions may vary slightly based on manufacturing tolerances. Contact our engineering team for custom sizes or special requirements.

Material & Manufacturing

  • Material: high-strength cast aluminum alloy
  • Secondary components: reinforced nylon wedge core
  • Surface treatment: Hot-dip galvanizing in accordance with ISO 1461 / ASTM A153 / IEC 61589, minimum zinc coating thickness 65 μm
  • Manufacturing process: Precision forging, casting, or CNC machining of critical dimensions, followed by full galvanizing immersion. Dimensional accuracy controlled within ±0.5 mm tolerance on mounting interfaces
  • Quality assurance: Every batch undergoes dimensional inspection, galvanizing thickness testing (magnetic or gravimetric method per ISO 2178), and visual surface examination. Mill test certificates (MTC) available upon request

Application Scope

  • Wedge-type dead-end clamping of insulated conductors on mv distribution lines
  • 10 kV insulated overhead line dead-end and tension points
  • MV distribution network conductor termination
  • Transition pole and angle dead-end applications

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between NXJG and NXJL? A: Both are wedge-type insulated strain clamps. NXJL typically features a longer body design for specific conductor sizes and pole configurations.

Q: Can it be used on ACSR conductors? A: NXJL is designed for insulated conductors. For bare ACSR, use NLL or other bolt-type strain clamps.

Q: What maintenance is required? A: Periodic visual inspection is recommended. No re-torquing is needed for wedge-type clamps.
